Aside from the name on the jersey can anyone come up with a good reason as to why Connecticut or North Carolina is still ranked??? In our Lac 10 watch. Arizona St and Cal combined for 19 votes in both national polls. That's 1,164 votes less than the WCC and 1,275 votes less than the MWC.

Division 1 College Basketball Garrison Poll Jan. 4th
Over the weekend USC sanctioned itself after learning of several NCAA violations during the OJ Mayo season. The sanctions include forfeiting all victories from 2007-8 and a ban on postseason tournaments this season. Which proposes an interesting question. What if they win the Pac 10? SC has won 8 straight and is 2-0 in conference. http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/ncb/news/story?id=4792634
This could go down as one of the worst seasons in Pac 10 history. Aside from USC only Wash or Cal have chances at this stage to play in the NCAA Tournament. It is actually possible that the Pac 10 is a "1 bid" league. A truly bad conference.

Garrison Poll
Interesting how a meaningless 1st game of the season can be a pre-cursor for things to come. Most probably thought little of Murray State's loss @ Cal on 11/5 however the spread in that game was only 5 (75-70) and Murray State hasn't lost since. This victory by Cal is the Lac-10's best win to this point. The biggest beneficiary of this futility is the Mountain West Conference.
It has gone from possible to probable that the Lac-10 will only receive 2 bids to the NCAA tournament, and using an argument of geographic equality those extra bids could go the MVC. Don't kid yourself the NCAA Tournament Committee takes those things into consideration.
Aside from Murray State, some other schools to keep an eye on as the season progresses are William & Mary (Colonial) who has a win at Wake Forest, and Western Carolina (Southern) who just won at Louisville. Both schools come from conferences with recent tournament success.
Happy Holidays.

Garrison Poll : BCS Scenarios
Not that doing a poll isn't a general waste of time. The weekly BCS rankings really make doing a poll a waste of time. Therefore I give you the current BCS scenarios. Plan your viewing accordingly.
Division 1-A FBS Garrison Poll Week 12
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs Pac 1o
Scenarios: OSU has clinched. Ore clinches by beating Az and Ore.St. Stan clinches by beating Cal, ND, and Az beating Ore. Az and Ore.St need to win and have outside help. In the event of a 3 way tie the highest ranked school will go. In that case inside track goes to Stanford since a loss by Ore @ Az would most likely drop them behind Stan in the BCS. What I want to see: OSU vs Stanford. What we will see: OSU vs Oregon
Fiesta Bowl: Big XII Champ vs At lg
Scenarios: Texas will play the winner of Sat's K.St/Neb in the XII title game. If Texas wins, they go to the BCS championship game. If somehow Tex loses they will still play in the Fiesta Bowl, and the powers that be will send K.St/Neb to the Orange Bowl. I don't see that happening though. What I want to see: Boise St. vs Texas. What we will see: Boise St. vs. Oklahoma St.
Orange Bowl: ACC Champ vs. Big East Champ
Scenarios: Cut and dry, winner of Ga.Tech/Clem in ACC title game will go to Orange Bowl. Pitt/Cinn? If Pitt wins they go to Orange Bowl. If Cinn wins they go to Sugar Bowl. If Cinn wins and gets help, they will be next in line behind Tex to play in BCS Championship Game (Cinn will leapfrog TCU in BCS with win over Pitt). In the case Tex were to lose, Cinn goes to BCS, Big XII goes to Orange, and Tex is at-lg in Fiesta. What I want to see: Ga.Tech vs Nebraska. What we will see: Clemson vs. TCU
Sugar Bowl: SEC-2 vs At-lg
Scenarios: No matter what loser of Ala/Fla will play in Sugar. Cinn plays here if they beat Pitt and Texas doesn't stumble. If Tex falters, Cinn goes to title game and TCU will play in Sugar. This game is pretty easy to figure out. What I want to see: Florida vs. Cincinnati. What we will see: Alabama vs. Cincinnati.
BCS Championship Game: BCS-1 vs. BCS-2
Scenarios: Only 4 teams have a shot to play in this game. The lock is the Fla/Ala winner. Even if one or the other stumbles against Fla St or Auburn respectively. Tex goes if it beat Neb/K St. in XII title game. Cinn goes if Tex loses. If Cinn and Tex both lose? Fla/Ala rematch. Guarenteed. What I want to see: Alabama vs TCU. What we will see: Florida vs. Texas.
